Elias Beck

I am a behavioural ecologist who aims to research how urbanisation is affecting processes of sexual selection. Within the European stag beetle Lucanus cervus, I'm studying the effects of increased temperatures and nutritional nitrogen contents on the larval development of male beetles of different size and landscape origin. By also comparing the morphology and behaviour of differently-sized male stag beetles from urban and natural populations, I will determine if small and large males utilise different mate-location strategies based on altered morphologies.
